November 6th 2010
in Edgar Wisconsin was the setting for a
once in a lifetime opportunity as an
auctioneer to sell a
rare 1928 Mack Model AC "Bulldog" fuel
tanker truck, and a 1958 Austin FX3
three door London taxi. There were
many other items on the auction block that
day including antiques, collectables, brewerania, advertising signs, and a rare
set of 8 Marquette oil bottles with rack!
But nothing like when the Mack and the
Austin taxi hit the auction block! With many
onsite buyers, as well as online, you could
feel the excitement and nerves of the
prospective buyers when the bidding began!
The first to go was the 1928 Mack, fully
restored, this was owned by a gas station
owner and was put on display threw out the
state. The very
competitive bidding began from the crowd and
ended with the final bidders via online.
When the auctioneer said sold the final
hammer price fell at $20,000.00 for the
impressive Mack that went to a new proud
owner in Massachusetts! Next in line
was the 1958 Austin FX3 London Taxi Cab. The
car was said to be owned by the McGwire
sisters and was their own personal taxi,
although no documentation could be found.
The sisters had the taxi shipped with there
private driver and used here on tour in the
United states! The car went to a collector
in California that was very excited and has
big plans for a full restoration! Other prices realized
through-out the day were a original
Westinghouse Coke machine realizing a bid of
$500.00. A lot of three original tin
Universal battery signs for $180.00. A
beautiful Roseville vase bringing a $90.00
bid. Also a ornate hood ornament rounding
out at $60.00. A rare Marshall Fields hat
box and ladies hat realizing a hammer price
of $20.00 with huge lot of vintage costume
jewelry at $220.00! The set of 8 Marquette
oil bottles with rack brought a final hammer
price of $300.00. It was a great day to be
at an auction with happy people in
attendance! As the sale wrapped up, everyone
went home with there great memories of the
day. Some knowing that
several of these items one may never see
again at auction! Take a look at North
